Racing Bypass Valve - Type H - Installation Guide

This document is to be used as a guide for the installation of a TurboXS Racing Bypass Valve to a turbocharged vehicle that comes standard with a factory bypass valve with a 34mm diameter supply pipe.  If your vehicle D OES NOT come standard with a factory bypass valve or with a 34mm diameter supply pipe, please contact TurboXS or your TurboXS dealer to find out the best way to install the valve on your vehicle.  It is recommended that the installation of the product be carried out by a qualified mechanic.

Parts List

  • 2mm Hex Key (1)
  • Spring A d j usting Packer/Washers (8)

Installation Guide for Replacement of Factory Bypass Valve

The TurboXS Racing Bypass Valve is installed in place of the stock factory bypass valve as follows:

1.   Secure the 34mm hose adapter to the TurboXS Racing Bypass Valve.  Ensure the adaptor is pushed till it comes to a hard stop.  Use the Hex Key to secure the adaptor to the Racing Bypass Valve by tightening the grub screws.  Screw the locking nuts down to secure the grub screws in place.

2.   Locate the car’s stock factory bypass valve.  It will be mounted off of the connecting pipe running from the turbo to the throttle body housing.

3. D isconnect the vacuum / pressure hose running from the inlet manifold to the factory bypass valve.

4. Identify the inlet pressure side of the factory bypass valve.  Remove the valve from the hose and replace it with the TurboXS Racing Bypass Valve, fitting the inlet port (with the hose adapter) into the hose.  Secure with pre-existing hose clamp.

1.   D isconnect the factory bypass valve from the outlet hose running to the air box and fit this hose to the exhaust port of the Racing Bypass Valve.  Secure the hose to the valve with the pre-existing factory hose clamp.  (Note: this step is optional.  In most applications, the Racing Bypass Valve can vent directly to atmosphere, however, the return pipe to the air box will need to be plugged.)

2.   Fit the vacuum / pressure line over the nipple on the cap of the Racing Bypass Valve.  Secure with pre-existing hose clamp.

Note:  Failure to adequately secure the vacuum / pressure hose from the vacuum source to the Racing Bypass Valve will result in the valve malfunctioning.

Adjusting the Racing Bypass Valve

The Racing Bypass Valve spring tension will need to be ad j usted if the valve vents pressure prematurely or causes rough idling.  A d j ustment is done as follows:

CAUTION:  Use care when removing valve cap.  Cap is under tension due to spring load.

1.      With the engine turned off, CAREFULLY screw the cap off the main body of the Racing Bypass Valve in the counter clockwise direction.

2.      Remove the spring from the Racing Bypass Valve.  D o not remove any other internal components.

3.      Take one (1) of the ad j usting packer washers and place it into the main body.  Ensure that it is sitting flat inside the piston.

4.      Replace the spring and the cap and retest the vehicle.

5.      If the vehicle does not run smoothly or if a reduction in maximum boost pressure occurs, add additional packer washers as per steps 1 through 4 above.

NOTE:  Ensure that the vacuum/pressure hose is securely fastened at both ends, has no kinks or blockages and produces a strong vacuum at idle.  Call TurboXS toll free at 877.887.2679 or send an e-mail to tech@turboxs.com if you have any questions.
